Housing

Creating Safe and Supportive housing

The Vera French Housing Corporation was formed in October 1994, to assist individuals with persistent mental illness to obtain permanent, affordable housing that is linked to the Center’s support services and additional services within the community.  We offer 130 units of scattered site apartment buildings, duplexes and shared living throughout Davenport and Bettendorf. Vera French Housing also works with individuals coming from shelters and homeless living situations. In 2013, Vera French Housing opened our first staffed home for persons that need additional assistance and oversite through staffing from Vera French Community Mental Health Center.

Today there are 7 staffed homes throughout the community.  Each living situation is unique and there are different prices for each unit. Vera French Housing accepts Community Vouchers, and HUD funding.  Individuals in Vera French Housing receive ongoing support services provided by the Vera French Mental Health Center and other community agencies. Services are available both at home and at program sites. The assistance Vera French offers is adaptive and flexible, and adjusted as needs change.
