Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is a proven method to work with children, ages 2-7 years old, who demonstrate behavioral concerns. The therapy is completed with both the child and caregivers present and requires a commitment to attending weekly therapy sessions for 14-20 weeks. Parents practice skills both in sessions and at home to improve the quality of the parent-child relationship and change problematic behavioral patterns over time. Children learn to listen, follow directions, be truthful, use nice words, interact nicely with others, and express emotions efficiently.

PCIT IS for children between 2-7 who exhibit:

  • Tantrums
  • Hyperactivity
  • Non-Compliance
  • Self-Injurious Behavior
  • Low, Self-Esteem

  • Swearing and/or Sassing

PCIT is NOT for children that are experiencing:
