17 people, $7.1M: Scott County weighs new plan to break the crisis cycle
Court-ordered outpatient therapy would connect people with serious mental illness to treatment
SCOTT CO., Iowa (KWQC) — The Scott County Board of Supervisors is considering a nearly $150,000 contract to create a program for people who repeatedly cycle through crisis care, jail, homelessness and hospital stays.
The Assisted Outpatient Therapy program, or AOT, is designed for people with a serious mental illness who have a history of not following treatment plans. The goal is to reduce repeat crises by connecting people to treatment with court oversight.
