Just-In-Time Scheduling

Vera French started a new program to schedule appointments with prescribers on August 1st, 2025. The new process will make it easier to schedule an appointment with a prescriber within 3 to 5 days. This will eliminate the need to call for medication refills as a client will be evaluated by a prescriber. If appropriate the prescriptions will be given during the scheduled appointment

Scheduling an Appointment

Clients will be given a reminder card with a date to call to schedule their next appointment. The date may coincide with clients having 7 days of medication left. Contact Vera French at (563) 383-1900 to schedule an appointment.

Reminder Cards for Future Appointments

Prescribers will give a slip with a recommended return date to clients to take with them to check-out. At check-out, staff will give clients a reminder card with the date clients will call to schedule their next appointment. Clients will also receive an automated call or text reminding them to call to schedule their next appointment.

Example:

A client has an appointment on May 1. Prescriber requests client returns in 8 weeks for a follow-up appointment. Client will be given reminder card stating, ‘Please call VF at (563) 383-1900 on June 19 to schedule a follow-up appointment.’ Client calls on June 19; appointment will be scheduled typically between June 23-26.

Missed Appointment for Refills

If a client misses an appointment without calling to cancel within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment, the client will need to attend Walk-In Clinic for their medication refill. A walk-in appointment is a brief appointment by an available prescriber to assess and continue current medication. There is no guarantee that the available prescriber will be the clients assigned prescriber to ensure timely access to care. Clients should be prepared to have a wait time to see a prescriber during Walk-In Clinic hours. Medication changes WILL NOT be made during Walk-In Clinic.

Starting February 9th, 2026, the Walk-in Clinic hours will change to:

Monday-Thursday 3:30-4:30pm
VF Clinic at Central Park
VF Clinic at Duck Creek

Friday 9:00-10:00am
VF Clinic at Central Park
VF Clinic at Duck Creek
